LMB Remote Recording Project
Hi All. Below you'll find midi files of the piece we're remote recording - "We'll Meet Again"
There are four versions - 1) the standard midi file, 2) the same with percs parts removed, 3) a version with softer instruments and loud metronome (likely the most suitable) and 4) a final version with just click, no music

Concept
The nationwide VE Day 75 celebrations have all been cancelled and so the idea is that we'll record this, together with a soprano singer, mix them together by the end of the month and then release the recording ready for VE Day itself on Friday May 8th
The recording will be released by the band and also the Rhondda Arts Festival (RAFT) and RCT Council here in the UK. It will also be released by the Estes Park Tattoo in Colorado USA, in Moscow, Russia and by the Internationale Taptoe Belgie in Belgium on the same day.

Process
Here's what you need to do to:
- Please ensure you're fully warmed up and your instrument is tuned before you start
- Your instrument should be tuned to A440. There are numerous free guitar tuning apps you can download to check this
- You'll need headphones in when you're recording and to listen to the guide track or click track to play along with as you record your part
- You should play your part while listening along to any one of the instrumental midifiles, links to which are included above. Try the different options to see which suits you best. For those who find hearing the other parts too distracting however, the fourth midi file just has the click on it and no music playing
- Please ensure that you use headphones when recording and that the track, and all other extraneous noises, cannot be heard when you're recording your part. Try to also choose a room that's not too boomy
- You'll notice there's a two bar introduction on the recordings which is click only. This click is built into your bars rest, so in other words the first click you hear is the first beat of the first bar of music on your part. Count accordingly from there (the music itself comes in at bar three)
- You'll also notice that the pitch of the first click in each bar is higher than the other three clicks. This is just to help when you're counting the initial bars rest
- While you're playing, please avoid any overblowing or excessive vibrato, ensure you play notes full length and smooth, and make sure you're in time with the click throughout. If you're out of time / out of tune / out of balance, this just won't work
- Last thing - please watch the length of all notes, but particularly long notes and especially the very last note of the piece - it should be exactly six beats long in order that we all finish together
- Please record your part as a video on your phone and email the finished product to [email protected] If the attachment is too large to email, please save your file online and send us a Dropbox, Google Drive or similar link to your recording by Sunday April 12th

Video Notes
- When recording, please select a good angle, ensuring you can be clearly seen (i.e. not too close or cropped) and choose a good backdrop
- Please make sure your phone is static and still while filming you - propping the phone on a music stand itself works well
- The video should be landscape rather than portrait
- Remember also that you can be seen at all times, including during your bars rest, and that your finished video will be part of a montage like the examples below. Just as guidance for the look of the finished product, check out the two Cory videos below:
1) The Chitty Bang Bang video is pretty well done. There are some nice touches by individuals, glancing and smiling occasionally at the camera, but its all fairly genuine and - other than the pointless conductor and random elephant trousers - it works well.
2) The second Queen video, by contrast, is a little OTT in approach from all and comes across a bit contrived. As a result, it just doesn't work as well as the first they did.
Please bear in mind when recording the occasion ours is being recorded for and, while we want it to be relaxed and upbeat, and definitely not solemn in any way, we do want it to be tastefully done.
- I realise many of us are in need of a trip to the barbers, but if we can avoid hats and also sunglasses please that would be good. Please also wear casual dress rather than uniform (Brighouse did theirs in uniforms and it didn't work in the home setting)
- The orchestral videos below are good examples of what we're after - informal, but tasteful. Notice the live parrot on one guy's shoulder in the Colorado Symphony video by the way :D Pets and kids in the background are fine - dancing around and teddy bear costumes, no thanks. And before anyone asks, no, I won't be dancing about to a recording in red pants, I'll be playing a part instead ;)
Good luck everybody! Any problems, let us know.
If we can have all your videos in before next Sunday, April 12th please, or earlier, that would be greatly appreciated
