Lewis Merthyr Band has toured internationally on a number of occasions, including visits to Copenhagen, Denmark; to Ostend, Belgium; to Kerkrade, Netherlands; and, this year, to Rhondda Cynon Taf's twin town of Ravensburg, Germany
In 2020, musicians from the band were scheduled to travel to three continents and perform in a series of high profile international events marking the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and 75 years of peace in Europe in Europe, Russia and the USA. Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic however, these events regrettably had to be cancelled
The band enjoyed resuming our international performances in July 2022 however, when Lewis Merthyr travelled to Aachen, Germany and Kerkrade, Netherlands to perform in the renowned World Music Contest, where the band gave the European premiere performance of Chris Marshall's "Cantata For The Rhondda - Fulling Mill Lea"
Members of the band also travelled to the USA in 2022 to participate in the Estes Park International Tattoo and Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival in Colorado performing there with City of Bristol Brass Band. Images from the tour are available here
In 2025, Lewis Merthyr Band will now visit Ravensburg in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. During the band's visit to Rhondda Cynon Taf's twin town, the band will perform together with the 60 strong Stadtorchester Ravensburg in the town's famed Konzert Haus, performing works by Johan De Meij, a double premiere of works by Chris Marshall, and visiting this beautiful town. The band are thoroughly looking forward to the visit, and images from the tour will be posted here as they become available. Wish us all Gute Reise!
